How we took an automobile retailer from a brief to a full online store, through research, structure, wireframes and a quiet visual system.
02 · The brief
Credibility first, then a full catalogue.
Deciplug needed an online identity customers could trust and a store for a wide product range. The goals: establish that identity, build a seamless shopping experience, earn trust through transparency, and work on every device. The audience: car owners and enthusiasts, DIY modifiers, and the workshops and retailers buying in.
03 · Structure
Two ways to shop, one set of product pages.
The sitemap splits browsing into Shop by Brand and Shop by Category, both leading to the same product pages, with account, orders, cart and contact alongside.
04 · Shop by brand
Find your car first.
Most buyers start from the car they drive, so brands get their own grid as a direct way into the catalogue.
05 · Wireframes
Low fidelity before anything else.
Layouts were settled as simple wireframes first, so structure and hierarchy were agreed before any styling.
06 · Colour and type
Charcoal, ivory and one gradient.
Charcoal black and ivory white with one ombre gradient, Poiret One over Poppins. The interface stays quiet so the products stand out.
07 · Imagery
Generative design for the visuals.
Car imagery was explored with generative tools to build a consistent visual set for the site.
08 · High fidelity
Responsive, down to phone.
High-fidelity screens were then worked through every breakpoint, from desktop to tablet to phone.
09 · Shipped
Live and selling.
The finished store is live at deciplug.com.
